I emailed a select group of friends inviting them to join us on our adventure, giving them a year to think about it and start saving money if they were interested. I requested an August 1, 2013 deadline to make their decisions, and then I waited...
August 1st came and went and about the 8th of August one friend emailed and asked "are we going to Greece or what?" After my unexpected trip to Ireland this year, I had decided since no one was clamor ing with "yes! I am going to Greece" respnoses, I should just let the trip go... Until the email. Then I felt obligated to follow through and do my part to make it happen. Over the next month, it began to look like it would just be a few of us, then those few dropped out, then someone else asked if it was too late to join the group, followed by several others jumping on board and suddenly we had a group of 9 anxious to make the journey!!!
On the eve of our first planning meeting one of the 9 dropped out due to finances, but we have two other ladies possibly joining us. (Come on Mykael and Chris!)
During our first meeting we decided that the "group" part of our trip would be to the island of Rhodes. It is the eastern most island in Greece, and it is miles from Turkey. Several smaller groups will travel before and after the main group portion of the trip. I am excited to be part of the before and after groups! I will be traveling through mainland Greece with my sister and a friend. After Rhodes I will be joining two of my France trip buddies as we travel through Pelloponese.
From idea to possibly not happening to a deposit put down on the traditional Greek home we will rent for 10 days... It's been a strange but exciting ride already!
Girls Go Greece !!! July 2014!!!
