Life's a beach... with a sea view!

Waking up to the sound of the sea lapping against the rocks. Can we stay on vacation forever? I could get used to falling asleep to the gentle sounds of the waves against the rocks and soft breeze off the Adriatic blowing through the open door.

We have a beautiful view off our balcony which includes the Adriatic sea, a town (Plat) south of where we are staying, and two small islands. We also have a beach directly below us. Our room is sparse European, and we have a great “landlord”, Luke. He is a young surfer type guy. Just what you would expect from a warm, laidback climate like this. He has offered us “anything you want, just call me”.

Our plan is to head into Dubrovnik today to see the town and walk it’s famous walls. We want to search out the green market to buy some fresh produce and a few groceries. We have a mini kitchen in our villa, so we can do some food prep here. Although we ate a delicious margarita pizza at a local ristorante last night for $7.00 which makes eating in less appealing!

We started laundry right away last nigh, so I am sitting on the balcony, in a beach towel while my clothes dry. Tom is busy taking photos of our room, including me in the towel (which will definitely not make the blog!) Guess I’d better get busy getting ready to be a tourist.

Breakfast is the fresh melon that we bought at the roadside stand yesterday. Life is tough here…. Send more Kunas so we can stay until it gets better….
